Garrett’s running career started on the track where he ran personal bests of 7:52 for 3000m, 13:54 for 5000m, and 3:59 for the mile while competing for the University of California, Berkeley from 2014-2019. Now residing in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, he takes advantage of the local mountains and desert to whet his appetite for adventure when he has free time away from his job as a systems engineer. In 2023 he won the USA Trail Marathon Championships at Breakneck Point, finished 14th in the Short Trail at the World Mountain and Trail Running Championships, and 36th at the Golden Trail Series final. After coming back from an ankle injury sustained skiing in the backcountry in the winter, he is excited to open up his 2024 trail racing season in Kobe
